I am a father of five, Licensed Massage Practitioner, Certifed Personal Trainer, and vocational massage instructor. I created the Power of Touch Couple's Massage Workshops in late 2011 and have had over 1,000 couples attend the introductory three hour workshop since then. It has been a wonderful experience and I have thoroughly enjoyed the process of both teaching and learning from the couples that come through my workshops. One of the most rewarding parts of this experience has been being able to help couples draw closer together through the use of massage and touch.
I recently finished my training as a Certified Educator of Infant Massage from the International Association of Infant Massage and I am now facilitating Infant Massage Workshops. There are a number of great reasons to attend an infant massage workshop with your baby, just as there are a number of great reasons that people choose to become an Infant Massage Facilitator or Educator. One of my main reasons for doing this is to help parents, both mothers and fathers, develop even deeper bonds with their babies (as well as each other) by routinely giving them massages. This is in addition to all of the wonderful physiological and developmental benefits of infant massage.
My initial goals are to meet groups of parents where they are at. Small groups that are already established or ones that come together for just this purpose; in their homes or community meeting places. The course protocol is for five 90 minute sessions but I like to have an introductory meeting where we can spend a little more time getting to know each other and going over what to expect in the workshops instead of just having to jump into the series. It will also give people a chance to decide if this is for them or not.
The first meeting is free and if you decide to commit to the next five sessions I ask for just $125 per family. If you cannot afford the $125 for the series then just talk to me and we will work something out. This is too important to let money keep you away and I have been on an extremely tight budget several times in my life, so I truly understand.
I prefer people to attend all five sessions because that is how you and your baby are going to learn the routine and develop the dynamics that will shape how and when you massage your baby. Also, the group of parents will be developing their bonds as well. I generally do not offer drop-ins unless you and your baby have been through the workshop before or unless a specific group extends the invitation to someone that they know and want to include in their experience.
I am available for private workshops and can modify them to meet any family situation. So please contact me if you are interested in learning more about these.
